Demo vID: Tips and Tricks
Demo Preparation Tips
- Delete the vID app from your phone and reinstall it from the app store to ensure you are running the latest release. Direct links to download the app can be found at v-id.com.
- Run through the flow 5-10 minutes before the demo to confirm everything is working as expected.
- Always demo in a stable environment with strong WiFi or cellular connection.
- Have your Government-Issued ID easily accessible.
- If you are just demoing the vID flow, you should create the vID invite in Cognition before the call so you can jump right into the demo. You can follow the steps listed in "Create vID Invites in Cognition" to create a demo invite.
- If you are demoing additional data collection forms, please have your sample documents ready (e.g., diploma, resume).
Mobile Screen Sharing Tips
- At the start of the call, join from your computer and phone to easily transition into the demo.
- Ensure you’ve enabled Do Not Disturb to avoid unwanted notifications appearing at the top of your screen during the demo.
- Note: When Do Not Disturb is enabled, you won’t be able to see your email verification code at the top of your screen. Ensure you open your email inbox on your computer to retrieve the code quickly.
- How do I share my phone screen?
Demo vID: Feature Tips
Screen/Feature | Sales Tips |
---|---|
QR Code w/ Branch.io Link | For a seamless user experience and getting started with vID, users can scan the vID invite QR code using their device's camera, and they will be automatically redirected to the app store to download the vID app. |
Consent to Share Biometric Data | Due to legal mandates in states like Illinois and Idaho, we require users to provide consent to share their biometric data before capturing their selfie. |
Selfie: Liveness Detection | Liveness detection will ask the user to look left, right, and blink 3 times before capturing the selfie. This ensures the user is a live photo of the user that's going through vID. Additionally, we gain protection from AI deepfake attacks, more sophisticated identity proofing attacks, or cases where, for example, someone has stolen an ID card that's not their own, which is prevented by biometric scoring. |
Biometric Scoring | We biometrically verify users based on the photo pulled from their ID scan and their liveness detection selfie captured within the vID flow. Based on the outcome, we issue a pass or fail. When a user fails biometric verification, their order is sent to manual processing, where an admin user manually verifies if the user is who they claim to be by reviewing the provided ID scan and selfie images. |
ID Scanning: Auto Capture | To ensure that we get the clearest ID scans, we have |
ID Verification Checks | vID will verify the ID by checking for any discrepancies between the front and back of the ID. This involves confirming the barcode, pulling data from the MRZ code, and ensuring it matches the data on the front of the ID. We conduct data consistency checks to verify the data, hologram format, and ID placement. Additionally, we perform visual checks for screen and hand detection, as well as image quality. This includes identifying the presence of a hand and checking for any grainy effects in the image that could indicate it was captured off a screen. These additional checks help ensure that the user physically has the ID and that the ID is genuine. These verification checks help us ensure two things: one, that the ID is legitimate, and two, that the user has a physical copy of the ID on them. |
SSN Collectional (Optional) | vID/Cerebrum is SOC 2 compliant, conducts regular vulnerability testing, and double-encrypts sensitive data with encryption keys to ensure our system's security against ethical hacking attacks. |
Disclosures (Optional) | vID supports rendering custom disclosures as authorization at the package level. These signed disclosures, which include the applicant's signature, IP address, location details, and date and time stamp, can be passed via the integration as a PDF. vID also automatically renders city and state disclosures to the user based on the three things below. 1. The address pulled from their ID scan 2. The address of the organization 3. The address was manually entered when reviewing their ID information. |
Additional Data Collection (Optional) | The vID flow can support additional data collection, allowing end users to receive a single email and enter all their data in a single flow. This portion of vID can be used for any additional documentation, credentials, or license collection. |
AI Auto-Capture for Additional Data Collection | AI Auto-Capture enables users to capture a photo of a document, such as a diploma, resume, or linked page, and vID will then analyze the document to populate the additional data collection form. This minimizes the time it takes for a user to complete vID, duplicate data entry, and incorrect data entry. |
Additional Document Uploading | Support for any additional document collection |
Instant Verification | Based on the biometric threshold and successful ID verification checks, a user will be granted automatic ID verification, and a background check will be automatically dispatched. This minimizes turnaround time and manual intervention. If a user doesn't meet the biometric threshold or verification checks fail on their ID scans, the order will be placed in the manual processing queue. |
Credential Wallet (Optional) | With a complete ID verification, a user will receive a portal QR code attached to their vID wallet. The user can present the QR code directly from the vID app, and anyone can scan and verify the credentials in their mobile browser—no app or account required. |
vID Verification PDF | Once the vID is complete, the results will be posted back to the CRA platform. The results will include a VID verification PDF, which has the user's ID scans, selfie, verification checks, and IP address details. |
